Want to make your marquee look like a fairy exploded in it? If you are looking to rent lights for a party, here are our tips for lighting up your marquee.
Subtle cables are definitely the way to go. Coloured, silver or black cables detract from the lights. The lights themselves are the main event and clear or white cables will be far less visible, therefore letting the lights take centre stage.
Festoon lights are a long string of bulbs that can be used in a variety of ways. They can be strung up across your marquee or arranged into freestanding letters or words for a personal touch. Festoon lights can be found with coloured bulbs as well as white; both create a lovely vintage feel.
Nothing says magical like fairy lights. They are delicate, subtle and a guaranteed crowd pleaser. They are also very versatile due to their bendable cables so you can string them up, wind them around furniture or tangle them up in jars to create whimsical lamps.
If you want to rent lights for a party, safety has to come first. Traditional filament bulbs (the sort that get hot) aren't ideal for marquees for obvious reasons. Be sure to check whether your lights are definitely LED before hiring them, and read some reviews if you can.
It’s worth thinking about where you can add additional sources of lighting, for example on tables, chairs or other surfaces. Candles are a classic way to light dinner tables, but fairy lights can also be draped over furniture and festoon lights arranged to create shapes or word displays.
Make sure someone has measured the space of the marquee and thought about the logistics of getting power to all the lights. To make the process simpler, it is advisable to hire a professional AV company to do this for you.
Now you have these tips under your belt, you’re now ready to light your marquee to perfection. If you want to rent lights for a party or have any ideas or questions, Stage Engage will be more than happy to answer your questions. Get in touch with us today!
